Expanded edition of 10 French private texts from different regions, with a lot of new comments on spelling, morphology, syntax and lexicon. Revealing the authors’ differences in social status and education, they convey contrasting attitudes toward the linguistic standard of their time. The linguistic form of the original handwritten texts is strictly respected; graphical aids have been added to enhance their readability.
